Silly Smiles was started in honor of Sammy Rogers, a wonderful 6-year-old boy who was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) when he was 2 years old. This autoimmune disorder, along with Nephrotic Syndrome, causes damage to the filtering components of the kidneys. Complications include loss of protein to the urine, swelling, high blood pressure, low protein levels in the blood, and more. Each year, people of all ages, races, and locations are diagnosed with FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome. The number of reported cases is on a constant ascend. Sadly, the cause is unknown and there is no cure. These disorders affecting the kidneys can have a staggering impact on the lives of those caught in their wake. The families of those stricken with these illnesses are not only dealt the burden of endless medical procedures, medication, and hospitalization, but are also left with a financial burden that is often difficult to comprehend.

In response to this need, we have created Silly Smiles, a non-profit organization that donates 100% of its proceeds to families plagued with FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome. Silly Smiles is an organization comprised of professional photographers making a difference with their talents and cameras. We are committed to raising money for families around the country who are affected by the costs associated with the treatment of Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS through organizing fundraising events centered on photography. The concept is simple: a few minutes, a few laughs, and a lifetime of change. Silly Smiles has found a way to change lives one smile at a time.
